As my older kids were growing up, this was hands-down my eldest son's favorite desert. One day he was trying to remember the name of them and after getting a bit flustered and frustrated that I wasn't reading his mind to his request he blurted out, "you know . . . those super-dee-duper brownies that I like!" Ah, yes . . . that did the trick. The mom remembered and that has been their name ever since.
It's been awhile since I made these—a long while. My daughter made them for the church auction last week and I thought they'd be a nice treat after our family has fasted sweets these past 21 days.
Super—Dee—Duper Brownies
Melt together:
1 14 oz. package of caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk
Mix in large mixing bowl until dough holds together:
1 German Chocolate cake mix—dry
¾ cup melted butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup of chopped nuts
Spread and press 1/3 cake mixture in greased and floured 9” x 13” pan.
Bake for 6 minutes.
Sprinkle with 1 cup chocolate chips.
Drizzle caramel mixture over chips and crumble remaining cake mixture over caramel.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes.
Cool in fridge for 30 minutes to set caramel.
That simple . . . and simply delicious! Enjoy—
