“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness, delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the lord, trust also in Him and He will do it....Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”
Trust...in who or what? In the Lord.
And do what? Do good.
Cultivate what? Faithfulness. (cultivate here means to “feed securely” so this literally means to feed on His faithfulness). Where? Where I dwell: In the land where I live, where He has planted me.
Delight myself in what? What or who am I to delight in? The Lord.
If I do these things above...what will happen? He will give me the desires of my heart.
Commit what? (No, not get committed or have someone in my home committed—you know, to the funny farm :). My way. Commit my way to whom? Myself, the world, wants and desires? No, to the Lord.
Trust also in who or what? Commit my way to and trust also in Him. Why? And He will do it. Do what? “...give me the desires of my heart”. Give, do, accomplish in my life what does me the most good and brings Him the most glory.
Rest in what or who? In the Lord. (Rest used here means to “be still”) My stilled rest is found in the Lord. I am to rest quietly—to be still—trusting His care over me.
Wait how? Patiently. (Patiently is to wait longingly in this use) Wait longingly for who or what? For Him.
When I TRUST God I am believing in His promises and in His perfect character.
When I DELIGHT in God my desires become His desires.
When I COMMIT my way to God I am exercising my faith by an act of my will.
When I REST in God I let Him hold me, calm me, soothe me, and restore me.
When I WAIT on God I allow Him to work in, on and for me. Before He can open a closed door, He has some preparation work to do on the other side for me.
When my eyes are fixed on God and I am trusting and obeying Him...the fretful, worrisome spirit within me calms down. Peace comes to my heart.
I determine to trust, do, cultivate, delight, commit, rest and wait.
God takes care of His children.
I will place my trust in His provision!
He is faithful!
He cannot be otherwise!
