Lack of Knowledge

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6

This morning I completed my Precept study on the book of Hosea. What a powerful study with many parallels seen between the unfaithfulness of the nation of Israel with our own beloved nation of America...which was purposefully and providentially founded on godly principles.

Dear Sister, I don’t know how to exhort you strongly enough, to encourage you to spend time every day in the word of God. If you are surrounded by wee ones and find that the day is too full from beginning to end to fit in a bible study, then listen to the bible on audio. Play it throughout the day in your home in place of music. Not only will you be soaking up the word of God, but your children will as well.

Friend, if you have more time, may I STRONGLY encourage you to locate a Precepts class at a church in your area. Any good, in-depth, inductive bible study will do. Personally, I was introduced to Precepts as a young 20-something and my life, my study of God’s word, has been radically changed by so deeply and intensely searching out God’s truth in this way.

I beg of you to stay clear of the self-focused, selfish, self-help studies that so permeate the Christian book stores of our time. They contain so little scripture and are full of psychological me-isms and peoples opinions. They will not draw you closer to Him, but instead, take you away from Him and the righteous, godly, gentle, humble, servant life that He calls us to live.

My heart is beating so hard right now. I just don’t know how to implore you any stronger. The above verse states “My people...” These are God’s people, followers of Jesus Christ, which in turn are called to be followers of the Truth. You cannot follow the Truth if you are not daily in the Truth, seeking out its riches, its convictions, its teachings. For “all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12. We have been commanded by God to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

Read the following scripture and see if there is not some correlation to what is being lived out in the “Christian” homes here in America...

“For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:2-7.

Christ loves His bride, the Church. I love the Church! Let us not be “destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

“Sow with a view to righteousness, Reap in accordance with kindness; Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12
