Wisdom is the Walk Out

Colossians 1:9-12
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

My pastor’s message came from these verses this past Sunday. Every day since, God has shown me how I am growing at implementing the spiritual knowledge that I have gained—except in those areas where Satan has really had me bound. The depth of fear in one area and working out of my learned tactics to protect myself kind of hit me in the face again yesterday morning during my time with Him.

I was reminded of the words the Holy Spirit placed in my thoughts a couple weeks back--- "walk in your freedom". There was a parallel to these words my pastor used on Sunday about walking in—living out—the spiritual understanding we receive.

This is the wisdom—the implementation of knowledge and understanding.

I am beginning to see the depth of where the "experiencing" God comes in because if it was always easy it would all be of my own merit and will power to "be good" or "do better". Because I have to recognize (by the Holy Spirit) the lies, the sin I've walked in and repent (all God), rebuke (only able to because of my position in Christ) and turn about (being renewed in my mind by God through the Spirit) I am experiencing the power and authority that is mine as one who has been “qualified”.

The walking in wisdom is the victory won.

The patience, joy, peace, hope...what have you...is not just released because I now "get" some spiritual insight, that would only be short lived. But because the truth is being believed, embedding itself deeply and implementing action in the body the resulting peace, joy—freedom—is that strength of His character being lived out in me.

All is by and for Him. His will. The filling of knowledge. The understanding of that knowledge. Even the ability to “walk out” the wisdom is only attainable because He qualified me. He strengthens me with His power and glorious might. This pleases Him. This grows fruit in my life. And He once more increases my knowledge.

Yes...I will give you thanks, Father! Without your will being focused on this individual creature named “me” I could not come to you, grow in and please you. I could not attain your peace, your joy, your hope—which is not dependent upon circumstance. I could not walk in wisdom without you first pouring forth understanding within me to receive the knowledge from Your truth. May my walk be worthy of You. May my walk please You. Oh God, may the understanding of knowledge never drop at the door of complacency, but I pray that I would receive the empowering of the Holy Spirit upon me to walk in the wisdom that You so graciously make available to us all. In Your will and according to Your time table. All praise, glory and honor be Yours this day...as it is every day, Amen!
